The quiet village of Thorney is only seven miles from the Cathedral City of
Lincoln.
The Cathedral, historic castle with its own copy of the Magna Carta, and Roman
heritage it is well worth a visit.
Lincoln is also a great place to shop, with all major high street retailers
within the town and many superb gift and craft shops in the up-hill area.
Lincoln is also well served for supermarkets and several fishing tackle shops
are easily accessible.
This area is ideal for cyclists as it is relatively flat and has well maintened
cycle routes.
The cycle track to Lincoln runs from the village.
Newark, with its castle, market square and river trips is only 12 miles along
uncongested roads and the country lanes of this rural area.
Eight miles from the site is the market town of Gainsborough which, with its
medieval Old Hall, provides yet another attraction.
Millfield Golf Complex with its three courses is only five miles away.
A chemist, Post Office, grocery store and newsagents, along with a Chinese
take-away and a highly recommended fish and chip shop can be found in Saxilby,
only three miles from the site.
There are also plenty of local pubs in the area, and most are also excellent
eating houses.
